The Home Office has confirmed that the second ballet of the 2025 Youth Mobility Scheme opens at 00:01am on Tuesday 15 July 2025.
A Youth Mobility Scheme visa is a cultural exchange programme which allows a person from participating countries and territories to experience life in the UK. Due to high demand, applicants from Taiwan and Hong Kong (if they have an HK SAR passport) must enter a ballot system before they apply for the visa.
Japanese and South Korean nationals no longer need to enter the ballot. They can apply at any time on the UKVI website.
The ballot typically opens twice a year in February and July. This year, there are 1,000 places available for nationals of Hong Kong and 1,000 places available for Taiwan. Most places are allocated during the February ballot, while the remaining places are allocated in the summer.
On 23 June 2025, the Home Office has announced that the second ballot opens from 00:01am on Tuesday 15 July 2025 and closes at 00:01am on Thursday 17 July 2025.
Successful applicants will receive an email by 1 August 2025.
