Who We Are

We are a multi award-winning law firm providing high quality immigration advice and support to businesses and to individuals.

We also have a niche housing team providing representation in cases of homelessness, possession proceedings and unlawful evictions.

The three Partners, Jo Renshaw, Tom Giles and Laura Coyle have extensive experience in their fields. Three of the Partners, Philip Turpin, Jo Renshaw and Tom Giles have between them over 60 years’ experience in the field of Immigration law and Laura Coyle has been practising Housing law exclusively since 2008. All of the Partners are recognised as leaders in their field.

The firm was set up in 2002 with a vision to provide an unrivalled quality of service and expertise to all our clients, whether legally aided or private paying.  As legal aid was withdrawn from most immigration and other matters in 2012, we ensured that our private fees remained fair and reasonable and, as a result of this and of our considerable expertise, our client base has continued to grow steadily every year. It is a mark of the relationship which we develop with our clients that the majority of our work comes to us through referrals, word of mouth and former clients returning to us again and again.

Our great strength is our team of over 40 solicitors, lawyers, caseworkers and paralegals, along with our committed support staff, who work collaboratively to ensure a first class service is provided to all our clients. Members of our team hail from all corners of the world: UK, Albania, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, Nepal, Poland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Syria and the United States, reflecting a diversity and international perspective which informs all of our work.  We work hard to create an environment where staff feel happy and valued and enjoy the jobs they do.

Our Immigration team

What sets us apart as an immigration firm is not only the depth of our expertise, but its breadth. We are engaged across the whole spectrum of immigration law, working with international businesses and prestigious educational institutions, those seeking to bring family members to join them, European nationals, as well as asylum seekers and immigration detainees.

We work with all sizes of businesses, NGOs, universities, charities and colleges providing the support needed to recruit and retain their skilled employees and brightest students from around the world. We work with highly skilled individuals looking to move to the UK for work or business. We support those making their home in the UK for family reasons. We represent asylum seekers seeking refuge in the UK, having been forced to leave their homes due to conflict or oppression. We assist individuals who are in difficulty with the immigration authorities and are facing detention, deportation or removal. We provide clear, practical guidance and support to employers and individuals facing the uncertainties of Brexit.

Working in our specialist teams, we bring to bear a profound understanding of the law, accompanied by a commitment to our clients, both individual and corporate, whatever their circumstances.

Our Housing team

At a time when many firms and law centres have ceased to undertake Housing work and the problem of ‘legal aid deserts’ is increasing year on year, Turpin Miller has made a positive decision to play our part in maintaining access to justice in this area.

We have a small but highly experienced and effective Housing team, working to keep our clients in their homes, to defend the rights of the homeless, and to challenge landlords who let out homes in disrepair. In collaboration with Launchpad in Reading, we have been able to increase our service beyond Oxfordshire through to Berkshire.  We also take clients from throughout the South-East and beyond who are seeking to challenge decisions in the higher courts.
