From 8 April 2026, the Home Office will increase immigration and citizenship fees by 6–7% across almost all applications. This article explains what is changing, who is affected, and what action to take.
Who is affected?
Almost everyone applying for a UK visa, settlement or citizenship who applies on or after 8 April 2026.
In a notable exception, the fee for applications to register a child as a British citizen will be reduced by £214.
We have included the examples of the fee changes below:

| Sponsor licence (small/large sponsor) | £574/£1579 | £611/£1,682 |
Note that visa fees will vary depending on factors such as the visa category, the length of visa and whether the application is made from outside or inside the UK. Additional fees will appy for categories liable to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). Visa applications submitted outside the UK face additional UKVI currency conversion charges.
