The new statement of changes to the Immigration Rules 1333 has widened evidential options for architects and expanded the list of prestigious prizes under the Global Talent visa route.
The Government hints at further changes to come in 2026:
The government aims to double the number of highly skilled people coming to the UK on our high skilled routes, including the best researchers, designers, and creatives working in film and TV to ensure continued competitiveness in growth sectors. Further changes, including to the Global Talent route, will be made in 2026.
Architecture
Architects will now be allowed to include evidence where they are named members of a group or team, as well as evidence of their individual work. Applicants can also now provide evidence of having significantly contributed to group projects that have been shortlisted or nominated for international architectural awards.
This is a positive change which better reflects the collaborative nature of the industry.
List of eligible prizes expanded
Under the new rules, the list of eligible prestigious prizes will be expanded, thus allowing more applicants to apply for the Global Talent visa without the need to be endorsed. Following a consultation, an additional 27 prizes have been added to the list.
