Laura Coyle shortlisted for Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year 2025

We are delighted to congratulate Laura Coyle of Turpin Miller who has been shortlisted for the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards (LALYs) 2025.

The LALYs, organised by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group, is now in its 23rd year. LAPG describes the awards as “an unashamed celebration of the work of lawyers on the social justice frontline. It is the close links to the profession’s grassroots that make the LALYs so special, and unlike any other legal awards. The LALYs are unique and distinct because the lawyers we celebrate are unlike any others across the entire legal profession. Legal aid tends to attract those who are not just exceptional lawyers but exceptionally courageous and compassionate human beings.”

Laura Coyle is a Partner at Turpin Miller and has been shortlisted in the Social Welfare Law category. Laura has extensive experience acting for tenants in possession and injunction proceedings as well as bringing disrepair actions and conducting complex homelessness cases involving judicial review applications and County Court appeals. Laura is the driving force behind our partnership with Launchpad in Reading and also co-chairs the Housing Law Practitioners Association (HLPA).

Laura is ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK, where she is described as an "absolute stand out" and “a real fighter” who "knows housing law like the back of her hand and is thoughtful and strategic". She is commended for going above and beyond for vulnerable clients.

As we celebrate this achievement, we are reminded of the importance of legal aid and its ability to transform lives and extend our congratulations to all the finalists.

A full list of finalists can be found here. The winners across nine categories will be announced on 4 July 2025.
