Briefcase

Solicitor or experienced caseworker required

We are looking to recruit a Solicitor or an experienced caseworker for our Housing Team.

We support flexible working and will offer salary and benefits dependent on experience. To apply please email your CV to Emma Penny-Larter.

Training Contracts

The two year Training Contract is the final stage of the journey towards admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court.

We generally look to offer Training Contracts to existing employees who have completed their academic legal training and are working with us as non-solicitor caseworker/paralegals.

We will, however, consider an application for a Training Contract from you if you are an exceptional LPC student/graduate. You will need to have experience in one of the areas in which we specialise, be able to demonstrate a sound grasp of the financial environment and show that you will make a significant contribution to the firm both during training and after.

Please apply by writing a letter to David Lambert, the Practice Manager, enclosing a CV and explaining how you meet these criteria.

Solicitors and paralegals

If you have experience in one of the areas in which we specialise, you are able to demonstrate a sound grasp of the financial environment and show that you could make a significant contribution to the firm, we would like to hear from you.

Please contact our Practice Manager, David Lambert for an informal discussion.

Internships

Introduction

Turpin & Miller LLP runs two Internship programmes. These aim to provide you with an insight into the working of our firm, to expand your knowledge of the law and give you valuable work experience.

The programmes also provide us with additional legal and administrative support and introduce us to potential trainees, paralegals and solicitors.

They are at present only available in our Oxford office.

The Interns

You must be an undergraduate or a graduate. It is not essential to have a legal qualification but the programme is aimed at those who are either studying or intending to study law or who have completed a law degree.

Internship Agreement

You will be required to sign an agreement with Turpin & Miller LLP setting out what is expected of you and what you can expect from Turpin & Miller LLP. This agreement will include a confidentiality clause.

Expenses

Regrettably, as a firm doing a significant amount of legal aid work, we are not in a position to offer paid internships.

We will make a contribution towards your expenses of £8 per day.

Testimonial

On completion of your Internship you will be provided with a written testimonial; this will confirm your completion of the internship and will highlight particular achievements and aptitudes.

The One Month Full Time Programme

This internship will last for four weeks; we aim to have two interns at a time. You will each be provided with a desk to work at and access to email.

During the four weeks you will have a structured day during which you will follow a programme covering legal research and casework, finance, marketing and administration. You will also be provided with in-house training sessions on legal topics.

The Long Term Immigration Programme

This internship will be based in our Immigration Team. It will last for a minimum of three months and a maximum of one year. It can be organised on a part time or full time basis. The hours of work are also negotiable.

You will follow a programme covering legal research, casework and administration. The responsibilities and duties assigned to you will vary according to your experience and skills.

You will be provided with monthly supervision sessions. These will provide you with an opportunity to review your work, gain professional insight and reflect on future intentions. You will also be provided with in-house training sessions on legal topics.

You will have a desk to work at and access to email.

How to Apply

Please complete the Internship Application Form and send it with a letter of application and CV, to Emma Penny-Larter at epennylarter@turpinmiller.co.uk.

You should specify which Internship you are interested in. The Internships will begin in January 2012.
