Family law in Oxford and Reading

Family problems can be upsetting and difficult to resolve at the best of times. We are here to help you when you are no longer able to manage on your own.
The Department is rated by the 2011 Chambers & Partners Guide to the Legal Profession in the Thames Valley with Ruth Hawkins named as a key individual specialising in representing children and parents in care proceedings.
We adhere to the Resolution code of conduct promoting a non-adversarial and constructive approach to family law and Emily Boardman is currently the Chair of Resolution's Oxfordshire committee.
We have two teams with specialist expertise:
Private law team
Our private law team deals with matrimonial issues, disputes between parents in relation to their children, financial arrangements between separating adults (whether married or not), pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements and domestic abuse.
Public law team
The public law team deals with all aspects of family law that involve social services - care proceedings, adoption, special guardianship - and child abduction.
Our public law team represents parents and children.
Funding
We have a variety of levels of fee earners who can offer different rates and even fixed fees for some cases.
We offer a free half hour initial consultation for you to meet with us, discuss costs and establish whether you would like to instruct us.
We also have a contract with the Legal Services Commission to provide legal aid for certain types of cases and in particular circumstances.
Location
We have family solicitors based in both Oxford and Reading and can also offer appointments at a location convenient for you.
