Outstanding Oxfordshire and Berkshire law firm wins prestigious legal awards

Law Society Excellence Awards 2012

The exceptional achievements of local firm Turpin & Miller LLP have been recognised by the Law Society in its annual 2012 Excellence Awards.

Over 600 leading lawyers and their guests joined Law Society president Lucy Scott-Moncrieff and BBC broadcaster Mishal Husain at the black tie dinner and presentation ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London on Thursday evening.

Turpin & Miller LLP, with offices in both Oxford and Reading, were presented with their award by Law Society president Lucy Scott-Moncrieff.

Turpin & Miller LLP were winners in the category of Excellence in Client Service, which recognises those who have gone the extra mile in pursuit of real excellence and client focus. The judges were impressed by Turpin & Miller LLP’s commitment to its clients, as demonstrated by the firm’s drop-in surgery for detained immigration clients and outside clinics for clients who would otherwise be unable to access legal advice.

Law Society president Lucy Scott-Moncrieff said: “Every year the number, range and quality of the entries gets greater, and this year is no exception. The winners and highly commended entrants should be extremely proud. Winning a Law Society Excellence Award is a huge achievement that brings valuable recognition for individuals and firms. These awards reflect the Law Society’s commitment to the promotion of quality, innovation and client service across the legal profession.

“This year our annual awards were bigger and better than ever with well over 600 people gathered to celebrate the individual and team achievements of solicitors from across England and Wales.”

Emily Boardman, partner at Turpin & Miller LLP, said: “We feel very honoured to have received the Excellence Award for Client Service, especially given the quality of all the shortlisted teams. Many of our clients come from the most disadvantaged sectors of society and the reason we go to work every day is to try and improve their lives, so to be recognised for that is incredible.

“We are a firm that was built on legal aid and we will remain committed to it, despite the cuts, and to finding innovative ways of continuing to help those that need it.”
